I miss my friends. People forgetting to take me to dances doesn't help. But right when I get petty the Lord decided to remind me of my mortality. Now I miss my friends even more. If any of you die while I'm away...

The evening light shone through the golden leaves, ringing them with a halo of glowing warmth. The contrast between the apparent warmth of the leaves and the cold that bit through my coat seemed appropriate, as if nature was mocking my current state by displaying it across the land for each eye to see. Exhaust choked the streets as the cars sputtered by. The grimy black towers of Kravas stood like a perfect contradiction to the purity of the blue sky. It seemed to any observers that the great Cathedral du Blanc, with its snow-colored marble and gleaming brass bells, was part of a grand cloud city, so separate did it appear from the grit of the shops.
